General Information

The Day Care hours are 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday–Friday inclusive

The Day Care year consists of 52 weeks. The day care fee is to be paid
bi-weekly on Fridays, 2 weeks in advance of care, or monthly.

Payment is by enrollment, therefore the daily/weekly fee must be paid whether the child is in
attendance or not. This includes:

• Children’s sick days and absences due to Doctor’s appointments, and parent’s
   days off (scheduled or unscheduled)
• Statutory Holidays, Parent’s holidays
• School breaks, i.e. Christmas and March Break, PD days, and children’s summer
holidays that occur while the Day Care is open during the summer months.

A fee of $ 40.00 per day or part thereof will be charged for late payments and N.S.F.
cheques. Repeated late payments could result in the termination of this agreement.

Deposit

A two (2) week deposit payable by cheque or cash is required upon the signing of this
contract. It is a guarantee of the child(ren)'s place in the daycare. The Caregiver will
retain the full deposit if the agreement is cancelled before care begins.
Otherwise, the deposit will be applied toward the last two weeks of care.

Reservation Fee

If there is considerable time between the signing of this contract and when care is to
begin (+ 4 weeks), the Parents agree to pay a mutually agreeable fee to reserve the space(s). In the
event that the space is being held for the arrival of a sibling (for example), a mutually
agreeable financial arrangement shall be negotiated as well.

Fee Changes

The current Day Care fee is subject to increase at a rate of $1.00 per day each year. The yearly increase will take effect starting with the parents first pay period each June.

Day Care Closures

The day care will be closed for the following holidays:

Family Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour
Day, Thanksgiving Monday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.

Please note: If any of the above holidays fall on a weekend, the day care will be
closed the week day(s) in lieu of the holiday.

Caregiver Illness and Absence

Caregiver is entitled to twelve (12) personal days due to illness, family functions/
emergencies (i.e. family illness, death etc.), or professional development within each
daycare year. Any unused days will not be carried over to the next day care year.

If the day care is closed in excess of the twelve (12) days over the day care year, Parents
will be reimbursed for any additional days that the day care remains closed. Parents are
again asked to have alternate care arrangements in place in the event that short notice of a
closure is given due to a family emergency or caregiver illness.

Caregiver Vacation

Caregiver is entitled to two weeks vacation. Parents are again asked to have alternate care
arrangements

Parent’s Holidays

Since payment is by enrollment, Parents are required to pay the daily rate if they are off
work and choose to keep their child home, or are away on holidays. Parents are asked to
give Caregiver 3 weeks notice regarding holiday plans so any adjustments can be made to
the daycare activity schedule if necessary.

Children’s Illness Policy

Parents agree to keep their child home if he/she has exhibited the following symptoms in the night or in the morning:

Vomiting, diarrhea, a fever, even if it is low grade, general malaise, or has any contagious diseases such as pink eye, chicken pox, impetigo, strep throat, head lice etc.

Children should also remain at home the first 24 hours following the first dose of antibiotics.

Although colds are inevitable, you are asked to keep your child at home if they have excessive symptoms such as a constant runny nose, sneezing, and coughing and generally not feeling themselves.

If your child requires Tylenol, Advil, or Motrin etc. to reduce a low grade fever, your child is sick and should remain at home. Please do not bring your child to daycare that day. Parents will be called to pick up their child if he/she has a fever or is vomiting etc. during daycare hours.

Please notify Caregiver if the child has been ill since the last day of care given by the Caregiver. This includes bumps and bruises as well as illness.

Child Attendance

Parents are also asked to notify Caregiver by email or phone call as soon as possible if:

Their child will not be in attendance (notify by 7:00 a.m.)
Anyone else other than the parents will be picking up the child
Their child will be arriving any earlier or later than the agreed upon time.

Toys from Home

LePlayroom has a wide array of toys and equipment to stimulate your child. Toys are rotated and washed regularly. Bringing toys from home can present problems so if your child insists, one toy only is preferable. Your child will be expected to share any toys they bring to daycare. If your child does not wish to share, The toy goes away until pick up.

Behaviour Management

Redirection, role-modeling, positive reinforcement, and time-outs are all methods used to teach children appropriate behaviour. It is very important that both Parents and Caregiver model similar behaviour and work together to establish the same boundaries and to be
consistent when it comes to dealing with behavioural issues. Keeping in touch on a regular basis in the Daily Log book will ensure that we stay on top of any behaviour that is inappropriate and allows us a venue in which to discuss appropriate methods of dealing with the behaviour.

The daycare does not tolerate negative behaviour such as hitting, pushing, kicking, name calling, bullying, taunting etc. The safety, physical, and emotional well being of every child is of top priority. Parents are asked to be very diligent about reinforcing and
maintaining appropriate behaviour both at home and on family outings.

You will need to provide the following

Tooth Brush

Season appropriate change of clothing

Swim wear during summer months

Any other specific thing your child may need before or after school such as, Asthma inhalers, EPI Pen, ect.
